MASS HLAVOLAM/ authentic gift item from the Faculty of Woodworking

"Touching wood verifiably positively stimulates our senses. Its properties such as sustainability, load-bearing capacity, formability, anisotropy, but also its smell, structure, haptic properties, sound, and taste are absolutely unique and irreplaceable in many spheres of our lives. The small piece of wood you hold in your hands has its value not only as an active design bowl that can take on a different shape with each rearrangement, but also as a relaxing anti-stress tool and a puzzle that will really challenge you."

This short text is placed on the packaging of a product that represents the vision, identity and values of the TUZVO Faculty of Woodwork for the 21st century. The design bowl "We have wood in our hearts" and its English equivalent "We love wood" carry a message that is unique on several levels. Its authors are doc. Ing. Zuzana Tončíková, ArtD. and Ing. Miroslav Chovan ArtD. from the Department of Furniture and Interior Design of the TUZVO Faculty of Woodwork.

The goal was to create a simple product that would be designed and manufactured directly by the TUZVO Faculty of Woodworking. A product that would be imaginative, playful, original and traditional in its simplicity. The authors' goal was for people to enjoy touching it, so that the user could communicate with the object in some form.

REQUIESCAT IN PACE / "Funeral Design" competition

authors: Tončíková Z., Chovan M., Kovařík M.

design philosophy

- the symbolism is accommodating to different types of faiths (cross, chalice, line, etc.) and placement options (symmetry, asymmetry, individual "tailor-made" solutions)
- light gives the monument a festive character regardless of its origin
- modular system with variable elements working with color contrast (possibility of additions and changes)
- elements can be combined and can be supplemented with "eternal light" including backlighting of the relief and memorial plaque using LED technology
powered by a small built-in solar panel

(and possibly controlled lighting with a chip regulating the lighting time with programming via phone)
- suitable materials - stone, artificial stone + solid-colored Corian (durable, easy-to-work material resistant to the influence of the external environment)
- the horizontal board is a box for urns, a light or a vase and can be modularly expanded as needed
- all materials used are ecological and recyclable.

NIDUS / concept of relaxation seating for the company Cubile

The philosophy of the product carries a reference to values such as a sense of safety, comfort and protection, as a place that metaphorically represents home. The dynamic relaxation seating called "Nidus" combines the idea of a fresh product, designed for people who love playfulness and life at all ages. The material composition based on wood and felt reflects the philosophy of the company, which perceives design as a tool for shaping a person's relationship with themselves, their surroundings and, last but not least, their environment.
