ONE BOOK = ONE TREE
The book publication titled UNIVERSITAS TECHNICA IN ZVOLEN, published in September 2012, is a book whose main mission is to present the TU in Zvolen to the public and partners. It primarily offers information about the history, educational opportunities, results of scientific research and artistic activities, and significant activities and events of the university, mapping the period of the last five years.
The rector of the Technical University in Zvolen, together with Dr. M. Chovan, entrusted us with creating a new look for this anniversary publication.
We approached this project as a design of a complex product on multiple levels, not just the graphic one.
The most significant added value is the design of the book cover, which carries an "ecological message" for future generations in accordance with the slogan "one book = one tree". This message is a real seed of a coniferous tree - Deciduous Larch (Larix Decidua), which is integrated into the back endpaper of the hard cover of the book. It includes a description and planting instructions.
This message is both symbolic and offers the opportunity to plant and grow a single tree. Planting a seed also represents the materialization of the philosophical orientation of the Technical University in Zvolen (Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Woodworking, Faculty of Environmental and Production Technology, Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Science), which carries enormous potential in terms of the university's orientation towards forming a responsible society in terms of sustainable development.
The book was published in an edition of 1000 copies.
